Who Can Join The Garnes Society?
The Garnes Society is the hub for practicing plastic surgeons, as well as trainees and medical students interested in completing a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency or fellowship. Any professional, who meets these criteria, is able to apply for a membership, regardless of race, gender or ethnicity. Our mission is to increase the representation of minorities in plastic surgery.

Affiliate Membership [$25]

For non-plastic surgery residents, students, and research fellows/assistants, who are interested in matching into plastic & reconstructive surgery residency or fellowship. Both medical and undergraduate students are eligible.

Undergraduates must plan to apply to medical school within the next 2 years. Affiliate members may serve on the committees, in a general capacity for participation.

[Medical Student/Resident/Researcher Requirements: CV and letter of support from plastic surgery faculty or general surgery faculty (if no plastics department), 1st-year medical students may submit an unofficial undergraduate transcript if they're unable to obtain a letter of support. Undergraduate Student Requirements: minimum GPA of 3.5, must be a junior or senior student, must provide CV & copy of unofficial transcript]

Associate Membership [$50]

For plastic surgery trainees, who are on the path to becoming board-eligible in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. This is for plastic surgery trainees who are on the path to becoming board eligible in Plastic & Reconstructive surgery. This includes integrated plastic surgery residents, independent plastic surgery residents, plastic surgery clinical fellows, and plastic surgery research fellows enrolled in an accredited plastic surgery residency. Associate members may serve on committees, run for committee chair positions, and vote on Society elections and initiatives.

Full Membership [$100]

For board-certified/eligible surgeons in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Full members may serve on committees, run for committee chair positions, serve on the executive committee, and vote on all Society related matters.

[Requirements: CV, proof of board eligibility or certification]

Institutional Membership [$1,500]

Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery divisions and departments can join as partner institutions. Institutions will spearhead research collaboration and their logos will be prominently displayed on our website. Additionally, 2 institution members will be granted free access to our annual networking event that takes place as part of Plastic Surgery The Meeting.

The Arthur L. Garnes Society, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization whose mission is to increase the representation of minorities (UIM) in the field of plastic surgery, eliminate health disparities as they pertain to plastic and reconstructive surgery, and foster networking opportunities and research collaborations among minority undergraduate and medical students, residents, fellows and attending plastic surgeons.
