Now Accepting Applications: 2025–2026 Internship for Medical Students Taking a Gap Year

The Arthur L. Garnes Society is seeking a 2nd or 3rd-year medical student who plans to take a 2025-2026 gap year (e.g. research or obtain an additional degree) to assist in the planning and execution of duties as they relate to the mission of the Garnes Society: to increase the numbers of those under-represented in medicine in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery and to reduce health and educational disparities in the field of plastic surgery.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assisting with the design, scheduling, and posting on social media accounts
Interviewing residents and surgeons for our spotlight series
Attending monthly planning meetings (when available)
Recruiting and engaging with students and residents to assist with research article analysis
Moderating Garnes Society Forum content
Coordination of existing fundraising efforts
Attending and assisting with activities related to annual PSTM events
Qualifications: Must be an active Garnes Society member entering gap year of medical school.
Requirements:
Must be able to commit anywhere from 1 to 6 hours per week. Weeks leading up to events may require more time and engagement
Attendance of monthly virtual planning meetings when available
Experience with social media platforms
Term: One or two academic school year(s)
